Dr. Benjamin Harvey is CEO and Founder of AI Squared. Applying his esteemed academic training and career experiences, Dr. Harvey uncovered a problem while working at the NSA that led to a solution, AI Squared. The firm integrates results of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) with ease into any web-based application for organizations. Fortune 100 financial service company, Vanguard, is the first official enterprise customer secured. Dr. Harvey raised a $6M seed round from top tier VC New Enterprise Associates (NEA) to launch AI Squared, and leads a diverse team of 20 and has secured contracts with NSA, NGA, DoD and the USAF in the financial services and federal spaces.
Dr. Harvey holds a Cryptologic Computer Science Certificate from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, a B.S. in Pre-Medicine/Computer Science from Mississippi Valley State University, a Masters in Computer Science from Bowie State University, and a Ph.D. from Bowie State University’s Department of Computer Science. Dr. Harvey’s accomplishments include research at Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology in the Bioinformatics and Integrative Genomics program in 2008. He also completed a Bioinformatics Post-Graduate Research-Fellowship in 2009 within i2b2, National Center for Biomedical Computing, with an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School. In 2020, Dr. Harvey conducted research at the National Institute of Health, Clinical Center within the Department of Clinical Research Informatics.
His superb data science expertise has contributed to the federal agency space. Previously, Dr. Harvey held a position with the Department of Defense/National Security Agency and served as the Chief of Operations Data Science for over a decade. Additionally, Dr. Harvey worked as head of data science for the Edward Snowden leaks. Prior to launching AI Squared in 2019, Dr. Harvey was an early employee of a Silicon Valley startup called Databricks where he served as an artificial intelligence and machine learning subject matter expert and architect where he was on the ground floor as they grew to over $40B valuation.
Dr. Harvey holds a Research Professor position with the School of Engineering and Applied Science within the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Engineering Management & Systems Engineering’s joint Data Analytics Graduate Program at George Washington University. He is a Sr. Scientist at The Johns Hopkins University in the Bloomberg School of Public Health in the Biostatistics Department. Dr. Harvey is also a tenure track assistant professor at Bowie State University.
